Flamboyant eyewear: Katy Perry leaves the Lowry Hotel in Manchester in an eye-catching pair of red spectacles
Katy Perry and Dame Edna Everage are both famous for their garish costumes and bright wigs.
And now it appears they both have flamboyant eyewear in common after the pop star was spotted in a pair of attention-seeking glasses yesterday.
Leaving her Manchester hotel on Tuesday afternoon ahead of her gig in the city that night, the 26-year-old was wearing a pair of red glasses that would make the Australian Dame proud.
Ready for Spring: Perry looked very girlie in her pastel pink prom dress, matching heels and mint-coloured cardigan
She teamed the loud specs with a very girlie outfit in pastel shades and a pair of peep-toe Christian Louboutin sling-back heels.
As England finally started to enjoy some spring-like weather this week, the star got into the spirit of the season in a baby pink prom dress and mint-coloured cardigan.
Inspiration? Dame Edna Everage, otherwise known as comedian Barry Humphries
Perry was heading from her suite at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Manchester to the Manchester Apollo for the two-night leg of her California Dreams tour.
Perry started the 104-date tour in Portugal on February 20 and is set to finish in Dublin in November.
Her busy schedule means she won't be left with much time to see her husband Russell Brand, who she married in India last October after a whirlwind one year romance.
In a sneak peek of Brand's forthcoming interview in Piers Morgan's Life Stories, the comedian admitted it was 'difficult' getting used to living with Perry after living so long as lothario.

He said: 'It's difficult getting used to one person and being in the same house every day.
'See, if she leaves stuff lying around I have to deal with it. And if I leave stuff on the floor I have to pick it up. That confuses me.
'And she takes ages to get ready. It's unbelievable. I had no idea what went on, I was never normally around for that bit.'
Brand also admitted he is getting a lot less sex now he is married.
He revealed: 'I can't believe I used to have sex 20 times a week, especially now I'm married. But now I'm a bloody good gardener.'

Meanwhile, Rihanna has denied reports she accused Perry of singing 'generic pop'.
The Bajan star was quoted in an interview back in October of saying 'I didn't want the generic pop record that Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry would do. Every song is tailored to me.'
However, over the weekend, she said: 'I didn't say that. Did you see the interview? That's not what I said. OK, if anything it was a diss to songwriters and producers who can't make anything other than formula records.
'They'll make a song and give it to Rihanna. If she doesn't take it, they'll take it to Katy, and if Katy doesn't take it they'll give it to Gaga. That's not what we want.
'We like songs that scream our individuality. We like records that speak for who we are as artists and that are tailored to us.'
