Hair today: The previously bald Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner revealed the results of his £12,000 hair transplant live on the show's grand final tonight


It's a secret he'd literally been keeping under his hat - but tonight Dancing On Ice's acid-tongued judge Jason Gardiner unveiled his new hair transplant live during the grand final.

The 39-year-old Australian was so bowled over by children's TV presenter Laura Hamilton's performance on the rink that he doffed his trilby to her - and revealed the layer of dark brown growth on his previously shiny pate.

Jason flashed the fuzz after Laura and partner Colin Ratushniak landed straight 10s from all three judges for their routine to the Pointer Sisters' I'm So Excited.

As he shocked the crowd with his unveiling, he said: 'Laura I have to say I take my hat off to you - incredible! You have just proven why you are in this competition. You just took it to another level.'

Surprised co-host Holly Willoughby gasped afterwards: 'I'm almost sepeechless about what was under the hat!'

It's understood Jason spent £12,000 on the procedure where follicles are taken from the back of the head on embedded into the crown.

It had been rumoured before the final that the judge would be unveiling his thatch on the show, but that was denied by host Phillip Schofield at the start.

The remaining two couples, Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt and Laura and Colin were then left to battle it out and skate the routine made famous by the show's chief coaches, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean - the legendary Bolero.

Judges votes no longer counted - and it was solely down to the public to decided who would be the Dancing On Ice 2011 champion - and they decided on Sam, despite Laura's perfect 10s.

Former EastEnders star Sam Attwater was crowned the Dancing On Ice 2011 champion after one of the tightest grand finals the show has ever seen

The 24-year-actor won the public's hearts with his 'passionate' version of show star's Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean's Bolero - despite accidentally leaving his hand on her breast at the end as they sprawled on the ice.

Sam gushed about Brianne, 29, too as he lifted the winner's trophy, saying: 'I've had the time of my life. I've made a friend for life and I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for Brianne.'

The pair won through with their consistently good skating since the show started in January and Sam had been the bookies' favourite since day one.

However, they had caused controversy earlier in the show's run over accusations they had tried to manipulate viewers with a 'faux-mance' between themselves.

In February, they had told show host Phillip Schofield they were 'an item' as they conducted a series of photoshoots in glossy magazines, even posing in bed with just their ice skates and giving quotes saying they ‘loved each other to bits’ and had met each other’s parents.

'Nervous wreck' Chloe Madeley fears she'll crack under pressure in Dancing On Ice final

Chloe Madeley might have made it to the grand finals but the Dancing On Ice star is worried she’ll crack under pressure.

The daughter of TV’s Richard and Judy is said to be a ‘nervous wreck’ over tomorrow’s final and fears she’ll mess up the lift which she hopes to bring her victory.

The 24-year-old is hoping to dazzle judges on the ITV1 show with a sexy Dirty Dancing routine.

Chloe and her dance partner Michael Zenezini will try to recreate the lift that Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey made famous in the 1987 hit film.

But if it goes wrong, her dream of winning the competition will be shattered and a show source says she’s ‘really scared’.

‘I was doing a lift where I’m lifting two girls and then I just went and the way I landed I tried to save both the girls and went down and sprained my ribs and got a blade across my knuckles,’ he said.

But despite his fall, Sam is still the bookies’ favourite to win the dance-off against Chloe and Laura Hamilton.

Sam, 24, is set to dance to Footloose, while 28-year-old Laura is planning to shine while dancing to Madonna’s Express Yourself.

But children’s TV presenter Laura is also said to be scared that her fan base isn’t strong enough

She said: ‘Of course I was worried the fact not many people knew me could go against me.

‘I always knew from week one when it was completely down to the public vote that we’d struggle to make it through.

‘You don’t know how the public have taken to you – that’s why we didn’t expect to get this far.’

Meanwhile, Chloe said of her routine: ‘I have lots of boys in my showcase and lots of lifts.

‘There’s pressure from all these men telling me to get it right. I don’t want to injure anyone and I find it quite overwhelming.’

The Dancing On Ice final kicks off tomorrow at 7:40pm on ITV1

Johnson Beharry VC missed out on a place in the Dancing On Ice final tonight, after facing Chloe Madeley in the skate-off.

The Victoria Cross hero was voted off the programme in the semi-final after the three judges unanimously decided to save Chloe.

But ever-cheery Johnson managed to take the news well, telling viewers: 'There's no need to be sad, I had loads of fun - the time of my life.'

After revealing the public vote, hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby announced that Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt had made it through to next week's final, before announcing they would be joined by Laura Hamilton and Colin Ratushniak.

That left Chloe Madeley and Michael Zenezini and Johnson Beharry VC and partner Jodeyne Higgins to perform in the skate-off.

Chloe and Michael were first up, and while the routine was perhaps slightly more hesitant, the pair got through without repeating the tumble they had earlier managed during the routine.

A clearly emotional Jodeyne said after the performance: 'Every moment I have been out of the ice with this man has been truly inspirational.'

But it was a unanimous decision from the judges, who all voted for Chloe to get through to the final next week.

Earlier in the show, the skaters were shown being told by judge Robin Cousins that they would have to complete a solo routine after finishing their first dance.

The celebrities were also told both of the routines would be given marks by the judges, giving them the chance to earn a maximum of 60 points.


Chloe and Michael were first up on the semi-final week, with Chloe admitting she was stunned to have made it so far in the competition.


As well as attempting a knee slide, Chloe and Michael tried their most dangerous lift to date, the 'Roman Candle' lift which sees Chloe place her skates on Michael's chest and lean forward.

And after the dress rehearsal for the show, Chloe was left in tears after finding the lift to difficult to complete, insisting: 'This is the most ridiculous thing we have done to date'.

Jeff Brazier misses out on a place in Dancing On Ice semi-final after losing skate-off with Sam Attwater

Farewell: TV presenter Jeff Brazier and Isabelle Gauthier were voted off Dancing On Ice - despite their impressive routine with chairs and a table


Jeff Brazier and partner Isabelle Gauthier missed out on a place in the Dancing On Ice semi-final after they were voted off the show last night.

The TV presenter was sent packing by the judges after losing a skate-off with Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt.

The father-of-two took the news graciously after surviving the skate-off twice previously, saying: 'I'm grateful to have the opp and to have gotten so far.'

The theme was prop week with doo-wop band The Overtones providing live music to every dance.

Attwater, 24, and Canadian professional Delcourt, 29, were the first to skate to Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons' Beggin', receiving a 24.5.

The pair danced with a bar stool, microphone stand and hat and managed a tricky split lift, which had involved Sam getting cut on his leg several times by Brianne's blades during rehearsals.

Head judge Robin Cousins said: 'The skating was great, the lift was great, the use of the props was great.'

Emma Bunton enthused: 'Your performance was effortless. You had loads of swagger. You had great mic control and you'd make a great little pop star.'

Following on from his argument with Denise Welch's husband Tim Healy last week, Gardiner clashed with Attwater when he accused him of making excuses for dropping the hat.

Attwater said he and Brianne had been rehearsing all week with a more flimsy hat, but it had been changed to a heavier one a few hours before the show went out so was more difficult to use.

Gardiner said: 'You practice and you practice, but I'm sorry, you dropped the hat... there's no excuse... You dropped the hat.'

Attwater tried to explain: 'We'd been rehearsing with a different hat all week. The hat was changed at the last minute...,' prompting Gardiner to demand: 'Last minute? When?'

When the ex-EastEnders actor said that afternoon, Gardiner didn't relent: 'Well then you had time.'

Second to perform was war hero Johnson Beharry VC, 31, and Jodeyne Higgins, 36, using a hat and umbrella to dance to Fifties classic Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite.
The pair received their highest score ever 19.5 - up two points from last week's 17.5.
Giving Beharry some of his most positive comments ever, Gardiner said: 'You handled your props with such finesse and panache.

'The acting reminded me of a silent movie actor, it was complete ridiculous, but charming at the same time. Unlike Sam, you didn't drop them (the props). You handled the umbrella with great care and ease.'

Bunton gave Beharry the lowest score of all the judges, admitting: 'Because you were so near to me I could see your nerves.'

But Cousins - who gave him his highest score - said: 'It was nice, it was smooth, it could have been a bit more skating in there, but sometimes less is more.

The third duo to take to the ice was children's TV presenter Laura Hamilton, 29, and Canadian professional Colin Ratushniak, 25.

The pair used a chair and a cane to put on a fiery performance to Adele's Rolling In The Deep and received a 25.5.

Bunton told her: 'You had real control over your props. I wasn't keen on the butterfly lifts you could have had more extension in your back.'

Gardiner said: 'You have great characterisation. It was great to see a harder side to you. I thought you handled the cane very well, but there were moment the chair... Overall not bad, I was expecting more from you.'

Counsins added: 'The butterfly lifts were more like moths. You did a good job between maintaining control and working with Colin.'

Next to skate was TV presenter Jeff Brazier, 31, and Canadian partner Isabelle Gauthier, 30, to We Can Work It Out.

The pair used a table and chairs as they acted out a scene of an arguing couple, receiving a total of 21.5.

After lifting Isabelle in the float spin lift, Brazier nearly fell over but managed to regain his composure just in time.

Cousins remarked: 'For every brilliant moment you had, there was something that went wrong that was very basic.'

Gardiner said: 'It was very inconsistent performance, it didn't work. The bit at the beginning was supposed to be a domestic, but it was almost like two toddlers being pathetic around a table.'

Bunton disagreed: 'I loved the drama at the beginning.'

Receiving the trickiest props of the night was Chloe Madeley, 24, and French professional Michael Zenezini, 30, who had to skate to Rihanna's hit Only Girl In The World with a rope and hula hoop.

They were ecstatic after receiving 27.0 after picking up 9s from all three judges.
Week after week, you deliver. Good for you for being in that position to say bring it on, I'll give it a go.

Gardiner: 'I am incredibly proud of you, they were very tricky props. You worked with them beautifully. It's all credit down to what you've done and delivered tonight.'
